In 2015, the Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez presented a study to learn about the situation and opportunities for improvement in the most populous cities of 10 countries. It is worth noting that one of the main findings indicates that the existing regulations at that time had large differences from one city to another, positioning this type of transportation in different positions in terms of safety. The cities that obtained the best scores in this regard were: Madrid, Montevideo and New York.
Taking the aforementioned study as background, the case of Montevideo is chosen to be commented on in this document, since it was the Latin American city with the highest score at that time. Details of the work that led Montevideo to position itself as one of the cities with the best example in School Transportation in the region, led by the Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez, will be presented below.
