The International Forum on Child Road Safety (FISEVI) is an initiative of dialogue between actors who play significant roles in road safety such as governments, international organizations, inspectors, civil and road engineers, health workers, teachers, civil society organizations, professional transporters, media, private institutions linked to the subject, among others.

As a member of the Global Initiative for Children's Health and Mobility, and within the framework of the inclusion of road safety within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDA) proposed by the United Nations at a global level, the Gonzalo Rodríguez Foundation considers of vital importance to generate the International Forum on Child Road Safety as a space for dialogue and commitment that contributes to the fulfillment of the goals defined for 2020.

The general objective of FISEVI is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experiences and good practices for the development of road safety management in different fields of action, from the creation and implementation of public policies to actions led by civil society organizations and/or private institutions.

Currently, the public and private sectors are working hard to contribute to sustainable development at the global level by proposing initiatives that contribute to reducing the risk of road accidents.

Global Goals for Sustainable Development

Traffic accidents are one of the main causes of death between 5 and 29 years of age worldwide and Latin America is one of the continents most affected by this cause. According to the latest World Health Organization's World Road Safety Report, 90% of road traffic deaths and injuries occur in low- and middle-income countries.

On September 25th 2015 at the United Nations Summit of Heads of State, 193 world leaders committed to 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development, including halving the number of global road traffic deaths and injuries by 2020. This resolution is aligned with the UN Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020.

FISEVI Uruguay

With the intention of positioning this issue in the public agenda and generating opportunities for regional synergy, the Gonzalo Rodríguez Foundation held the first FISEVI in 2014 in Montevideo, Uruguay.

After the achievements obtained in this first edition, FISEVI is transformed into an itinerant forum that takes place every two years in different countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Thus, on June 16 and 17, FISEVI was held in the city of Santiago de Chile, in collaboration with the Government of Chile, through the National Commission for Traffic Safety (CONASET) and the Automobile Club of Chile.

FISEVI Chile

FISEVI Chile brought together international specialists; representatives of the governments of Chile, Argentina, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Paraguay and Uruguay; educators; researchers; private companies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), who exchanged on the different forms of children's mobility, addressing concrete and sustainable solutions in the medium and long term.

The FISEVI that took place in June 2016 in Santiago, Chile, achieved that those responsible for road safety management, from their different fields of action, renewed their commitment in the development and implementation of public policies through a work articulated with civil society organizations and public and private institutions.

In order to give continuity to the work articulated with governments and organizations of reference in road safety, at the closing of FISEVI Chile, the Ministry of Transport of the Presidency of Argentina, through its National Agency of Road Safety, assumed the challenge and the commitment together with the Gonzalo Rodríguez Foundation to receive FISEVI 2018 in the Republic of Argentina.

FISEVI Argentina

FISEVI Argentina Chapter, again left its mark on the field of child road safety in the continent. More than 400 participants; representatives of the governments of Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Paraguay, Colombia and Uruguay; private companies; and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), exchanged on the reality of child road safety in our continent.

FISEVI 2018, held in June 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, achieved that decision makers, renewed their commitment in the development and implementation of public policies to improve child road safety.
