Gonzalo Rodríguez Foundation and the Inter-American Institute of Children and Adolescents (IIN-OAS) Sign an Important Cooperation Agreement to Promote the Right to Safe Mobility in Children and Adolescents

The agreement, signed by María Fernanda Rodríguez, president of the Gonzalo Rodríguez Foundation, and María Julia Garcete Yegros, general director of the IIN-OAS, establishes a collaboration framework that will allow the joint execution of research projects, the dissemination of relevant information and the organization of events and training activities.

The Gonzalo Rodríguez Foundation, a recognized civil society organization, is committed to promoting public policies that promote safe and healthy mobility for children and adolescents in Latin America and the Caribbean. To achieve this, it coordinates with national and subnational governments, international organizations, academia, civil society and the private sector in three complementary axes: research (creation and dissemination of knowledge), promotion of regulations and public policies, and training to promote advocacy. This agreement facilitates international cooperation with government agencies from other countries to advance safe mobility and jointly design programs and projects dedicated to promoting the rights of children and adolescents, in accordance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child. .

María Fernanda Rodríguez expressed: “This agreement represents a crucial step in our efforts to guarantee the safety and well-being of our children and adolescents on the roads. Collaboration with the IIN-OAS will allow us to expand the impact of our actions and achieve our objectives more effectively.”

María Julia Garcete Yegros commented: “The alliance with the Gonzalo Rodríguez Foundation through this agreement generates a virtuous synergy between institutions that promote public policies from the perspective of child protection; In this sense, for the IIN, the emphasis is placed on a right that is safety on public roads and on the comprehensiveness of care for all guarantors and not only those specific to childhood.”
