On June 30 and July 1, the United Nations High Level Meeting on Road Safety was held, where authorities from several countries and representatives of civil society called to work actively and quickly on the road safety epidemic affecting our countries. The meeting also served as a political endorsement of the Global Plan, developed by the United Nations and the World Health Organization (WHO) for the decade of road safety 2021-2030, and its goal of reducing road traffic fatalities by 50% by 2030.
María Fernanda Rodríguez, president of the Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez, invited by the WHO, participated in the meeting. From there she called on the authorities of our countries to start working actively for road safety, avoiding prioritizing other areas such as trade. "We all have the capacity to decide. Sometimes on mundane things, sometimes affecting many others. What are we going to prioritize - our exports or the lives of our citizens?"
