As a tribute in the 17th anniversary of the Uruguayan driver´s death on September 11, the Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez organized an exclusive show of the film “Gonchi, la película” on September 8. The Fundación is also presenting the Gonzalo Rodríguez Award in different motor racing circuits in the country together with the FUAD and the FUK.

Associations within the FUAD and the FUK participate in the event by naming the different races during the weekend, “Gonzalo ‘Gonchi’ Rodríguez” and/or presenting an award with his name to those drivers previously selected.

The winning drivers will be chosen by the federations based on their values and attitudes inside and outside the tracks, especially focusing on their solidarity and respect towards their teammates, apart from their effort and perseverance in the discipline.

The Award is an art piece created by the local artist Verónica Vázquez in 2009; it acknowledges the best “attitudes” by Uruguayan sports people in different disciplines.

It is the Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez´s aim that through these tributes, Gonchi´s kind and unforgettable smile remains forever in the hearts of the Uruguayans

Winners of the third edition of Gonzalo Gonchi Rodríguez Prix were:

• Ignacio Massat selected by the Uruguayan Drivers Association.

• Leonardo Sebastián Cavanna Costa selected by Automobile Club of Salto.

• Alfredo Bertocchi selected by the Uruguayan Autocross Drivers Club.

• César Reyes selected by the Uruguayan Rally Club.

• Daniel Cabeda selected by the Uruguayan Sport Cars Club.

Races

• The National Rally Championship will take place in San José on September 16 - 18; the “Gonchi” Rodríguez Award will be presented by the Uruguayan Rally Club.

• The Uruguayan Sport Vehicles Club will organize its 4th stage that will be named “Gonzalo ‘Gonchi’ Rodríguez Gran Prix”.

• On September 17 and 18 the 3rd stage of the Metropolitan Championship organized by the Uruguayan Karting Federation will be held at the Autódromo de El Pinar presenting the Gonzalo “Gonchi” Rodríguez trophies .

• On Sunday, September 18, as from 9.30am, the “Gonzalo ‘Gonchi’ Rodríguez Gran Prix” will take place at the 4th stage of SAC Championship at the Polideportivo Ciudad de Mercedes organized by the Automobile Club of Salto.

• Also on Sunday but at the Aguas Corrientes tracks at Parque de la OSE in Canelones the 5ª Stage of the National Championship will take place; this is organized by the Uruguayan Autocross Drivers Club, called Gonzalo Rodríguez Grand Prix.
