This initiative that started as a pilot plan in 2010, became part of a continuous training program so that students can better advise parents about Child Passenger Safety.
Talks are designed to reach all undergraduate students (futures doctors) taking Pediatrics courses. These presentations are divided in two stages; the first one focuses on the prevention of unintentional injuries (referred to as accidents in the past), and their morbidity and mortality at national and global level. In the second stage, child road safety measures and child injuries are addressed especially in the children´s role as vehicle occupants (appropriate use of child restraint systems)
After the presentation, students were given a multiple-choice test on the main concepts presented and they had the opportunity to ask questions to the Fundación´s Child Passenger Safety expert, Marcelo Alborés, who was leading the presentation.
