Florencia Lambrosquini, coordinator of the Research Department at the Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez was in charge of presenting local data for the study - which covered 22 cities in Uruguay- on July 8 at the Municipal Board of Lavalleja, where the National Congress of Town Councilors took place. After the presentation that gathered more than 40 town councilors, among them the Traffic and Transport Commission, there was a space for questions and exchange.
Invited by Montevideo´s Municipal Board , the study was also presented before the Urban Mobility Commission on July 11.
For the Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez the “Study on the Conditions for Children Transport on Motorcycles in Latin America” will not have achieved its objective until governments, local authorities, organizations involved do not show their willingness to include, implement and demand minimum requirements that contribute to the reduction of deaths and injuries caused by crashes.
The “Study on Conditions for Children Transport on Motorcycles in Latin America”, is an unprecedented research study in 45 cities from 6 different countries (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, Dominican Republic and Uruguay). The study was conducted by Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez in collaboration with the World Bank, Latin America Development Bank - CAF, the UPS Foundation and the Ibero-American Road Safety Observatory (OISEVI), and it aims at the creation of a knowledge base that promotes the improvement of transport conditions of children in the medium term.
