The General Secretary of Forida´s Municpality, Macarena Rubio, and the President of Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez, María Fernanda Rodríguez, attended the event in which a street was named after Gonzalo “Gonchi” Rodríguez.
After signing the agreement, Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez trained traffic enforcers and officers from the National Police Department on child passenger safety.
A free-of-charge Check Up point was implemented on the square, opposite the Cathedral on Friday 14 aimed at adults responsible for transporting children by car on the correct installation of child seats. The event was organized in two shifts: 10:00 am -12:00 and 2:00 pm – 4pm.
Child Restraint Systems (CRS) are the adequate protection for children when they travel by car. Its use reduces injuries in 75% and prevent children from being ejected from the car, as well as from impacting against other occupants and vehicle elements.
Newborn children, until they reach 1.5 meter tall, must travel in a child restraint system according to their weight and height which protects the different stages of their growing as stated by Act. 19.061 passed in April 2013.
Through this Check Up point, Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez, Florida´s Municipality and the National Insurance Bank, look forward to increasing the use of child restraint systems and promoting a cultural change in the safe transport of children in the province.
